On Friday 25th September 2020, Copart UK were proud to support the annual Macmillan Coffee Morning to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
With things being a little different this year due to Covid restrictions, our teammates had to use some creativity to organise a mixture of socially distanced and virtual coffee mornings.
Teammates working across our nationwide UK Operation Centres organised bake sales, raffles, and games to raise money for Macmillan, while safely adhering to social distancing guidelines.
And, even with many of our Head Office teammates currently working remotely, many of them arranged video calls with their teams so they could enjoy a virtual cuppa, cake and chat – after which they donated to Macmillan.
Some teams even incorporated fun challenges into their virtual coffee morning to raise additional funds – including our IT team who had a competition for the best coffee related background!
Macmillan Cancer Support, founded in 1911, is one of the largest British charities. It provides specialist health care, information and both emotional and financial support to people affected by cancer. The annual Macmillan Coffee Morning, which was first launched in 1990, is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event and over the years it has helped to raise over £275 million.
Karen Langley, Communications Manager at Copart UK, said:
“Copart UK has supported the Macmillan Coffee Morning for many years, so we weren’t going to let the pandemic stop us from taking part this year. Charitable organisations need help more than ever right now, so it was fantastic to see teammates across our 18 UK locations come together for the day to actively support the Copart Values and raise money for a great cause.”
