Driving positive
change through
Plan-Net-Zero
We’re determined to act responsibly and sustainably in everything we do, supported by our Plan-Net-Zero and the implementation of programmes and initiatives that help our people, places, and planet.
We are a key enabler of the Circular Economy
With our commitment to science-based targets we aim to minimise our own environmental footprint.
In 2024, our scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions targets were validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Our strategy goes beyond simple adherence to laws and regulations, as we continue to execute processes and programmes to contribute to environmental stability. Our Plan-Net-Zero Programme also involves supply chain analysis. We comprehensively review and quantify each of our supplier’s emissions using the Economic Input-Output Life-Cycle Assessment (EIO-LCA) method.

Our Plan-Net-Zero journey
We are aligned to SBTi (Science-Based Targets initiatives) by setting near and long-term targets focusing on our four sustainability pillars: Sustainable Operations, Sustainable Environments, Green Parts & Vehicle Recycling, and being a Green Team.
Here are some of the steps we’ve taken to get us closer to our Plan-Net-Zero:
- Platinum level accredited Carbon Literate Organisation
- 150+ retained green space acres for rewilding, restoring habitats, and boosting biodiversity
- Developing carbon reductions and sustainable best practices into the heart of our operations
- Benchmarking our ESG performance using the EcoVadis Platform
- Continually improving across multiple ESG platforms and frameworks
- Introducing software to better support our management and reporting of carbon emissions
- Continue to transition to 100% renewable energy use
- Extensive research on decarbonisation opportunities and emission reporting approaches
Reducing impact through
innovation
We are advancing our greenest fleet on the street by carrying out extensive research into alternative fuels and technologies that will contribute towards a greener environment.
Our entire fleet is Euro VI and DVS (Direct Vision Standard) compliant, kitted out with the latest connected telematics and vision standard camera systems. This ensures optimal efficiency and significantly lower fuel consumption and emissions.
With our comprehensive driver training, we’re dedicated to cultivating a highly skilled workforce that drives greater efficiency, delivers exceptional service, and reduces environmental impact through improved driving practices.
We are exploring the use of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) as a cleaner alternative fuel for our loaders and trucks.

Making a difference
We seek to make a positive impact every day, serving our communities and customers as a responsible and reliable partner.
One of the ways we’re doing this is through working with Ecology, Future Forest, and Protect Earth to plant over 5,000 native trees and shrubs across 150+ acres of green space owned by Copart. Through engagement with our teammates, charities, the community, and customers, we aim to enhance biodiversity, improve air quality, and preserve habitats.
Throughout the year we raise funds and awareness for many charitable causes and provide immediate relief to local businesses and individuals affected by extreme weather events through our efficient emergency response support services.
Responsible employer
At Copart, we care about our community and strive to make a positive impact. We’re an accredited Living Wage employer, committed to providing a working environment where all teammates and customers feel safe, valued, and treated with dignity and respect.
We promote an inclusive and diverse workplace and adhere to a set of social responsibilities that we encourage our partners, stakeholders, and suppliers to adopt.
This includes strict compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015, maintaining an anonymous whistle-blower service, publishing an annual Gender Pay Gap Report, and embedding equal opportunity awareness into our policies, procedures, and training.
