We’re always there for our customers in a crisis. Top of our agenda over the next few weeks ahead will be processing high volumes of damaged vehicles in the aftermath of Storm Henk, which has caused multiple incidents of flooding across the country.
Despite already being in the middle of our busy winter period, we are, as always ready to respond. With a well-established emergency response strategy in place, we have the ability to rapidly recover and handle large volumes of vehicles following fire, floods, and other extreme weather incidents.
As we have already demonstrated with our response to previous storms Agnes, Babet, Ciaran, Debi, Elin, Fergus, Gerrit, our specialist CAT Response Team is always on standby to be deployed at short notice.
We use a wide range of mobile technology solutions to assess, image, and process vehicles on-site and have the ability to be able to call on our experienced global teams for additional support if needed.
Extreme weather incidents are sadly becoming more frequent due to climate change, so here at Copart we know how important it is to keep investing into land, transport, and technology.
Storage
Most importantly, we offer unrivalled nationwide storage capabilities to our customers, essential in the event of catastrophes and offering more than double the land bank of our main competitors combined.
With strategic positioning of our sites across the country, we ensure that we are close to our communities and customers when they need us, collecting and handling vehicles quickly, efficiently, and with minimal environmental impact.
We recently opened our doors at two brand-new Operation Centres in Corby and East Kilbride, and announced a new location in St Helens.
The diversity of our transport fleet, which includes single and 3-car transporters, not only helps to enhance efficiency and reduce carbon emissions, but it also enables our drivers to handle our more challenging collections where there might be HGV limitations or access restrictions in place.
Services
We have a robust and well-established emergency response strategy in place and a specialist team with collection expertise always on standby to be deployed to affected areas at short notice.
Our team uses a wide range of market-leading mobile technology solutions to assess, image, and process thousands of vehicles on-site with minimal disruption to local communities and businesses.
Flood or fire damage to vehicles can significantly reduce returns at auction, but Copart’s exclusive partnership with Polygon, a specialist drying and decontamination business, helps our customers to recover the best possible value.
Water damaged vehicles are fully disassembled in a controlled environment, including removing carpets, upholstery, and trim to allow for further assessment and decontamination. Those that can’t be dried out and those with serious storm damage, are taken to one of our Copart Operation Centres to be auctioned or recycled for parts.
Standards
And with the globally recognised ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management Standard under our belt (as part of a suite of six ISO standards which we operate) we help our customers and communities to prepare for, respond to, and recover from, unexpected and disruptive incidents.
Whatever might be around the corner, our customers and their policyholders can be assured that we will always be there for them when they need us most.
