Copart’s Fully Owned Operations: Ready to Respond

Climate change continues to have a significant impact on the world, with large-scale extreme weather events becoming more common place, and that’s why at Copart we continually invest into strengthening our operational capabilities, transport, and technology.

Our nationwide operational capabilities remain unrivalled, with 23 locations of connected Operation Centres and offices strategically positioned across the UK & Ireland. This means we can manage any peaks in demand through centrally controlled decisions and have complete flexibility to divert vehicles, people, and operations quickly and easily to another Copart location if needed.

Storms, snow, and flooding cannot be prevented, but with the right planning and processes in place, the fallout from catastrophic events can be better managed to the benefit of our insurers and their customers.

To limit damage and maximise the potential for restoration and remarketing of water damaged vehicles, the quicker the recovery the better, so having a specialist team ready to respond immediately to incidents is essential.

In addition to the range of added value services we offer, we also have a very well-established emergency response strategy in place. This, alongside our market-leading technology, enables us to rapidly recover and handle large volumes of vehicles following flooding or other extreme weather incidents.

Our specialist ‘Surge Management’ Team is always on standby to be deployed at short notice, using a wide range of mobile technology solutions to assess, image, and process vehicles on-site.

Spanning over 400 acres, our size and scale enables us to process around 500k vehicles per annum, which means we can provide plenty of latent capacity and unrivalled Surge Management capabilities at all times.

In our busiest winter periods, we can be called on to handle more than 6,000 flood-damaged vehicles. Once we’ve recovered them, our exclusive partnership with Polygon vehicle contamination services enables us to restore flood damaged vehicles to food hygiene level standards, so we can minimise the cost impact for insurers.

It’s also important to know that we own our entire network of UK Operation Centres, and everyone who works in them are Copart employees – that’s currently around 1,200 people.

With complete control over all of our resources and the services we offer, we can ensure that our high standards of operational excellence are continually maintained and improved upon.

And, because the strategic positioning of our sites across the country means we are never far from communities, and therefore our customers, we can collect and handle vehicles quickly, efficiently, and with minimal environmental impact.

As a valued customer, you will know that here at Copart we have very ambitious growth plans underway and have committed to both acquiring more land and further expanding and improving our existing sites.

Copart is strong, resilient, and available to respond to your individual requirements whenever you need us to, and you can be reassured that we are always ready to expect the unexpected.
