As part of our Plan-Net-Zero sustainability commitment – and as the owner of the UK’s largest salvage transport fleet – we’re always looking for tech solutions that will enable us to save fuel and reduce environmental impact.
Having recently boosted our total owned UK wide logistics fleet to circa. 500 following our recent acquisition of Hills Salvage & Recycling – The Green Parts Specialists, sustainability is a focal point of our future fleet strategy.
We’ve already committed to a series of actions which will ensure that we have the ‘Greenest Fleet on the Street’, including:

- Ensuring Euro VI compliancy across our transporter fleet.
- Investing into JCB loaders with lower fuel consumption and emissions
- Investing into single and 3-car transporters to enhance fleet efficiency and further reduce carbon emissions
- Partnering with HGVC for our Driver Academy Programme, the first and only UK driver training provider to offer carbon neutral training
The latest of our ‘Greenest Fleet on the Street’ initiatives is the recent completion of a 6-month trial of FuelActive, a unique method of delivering 92% cleaner fuel to the engine.
Whereas standard diesel engines and storage units draw fuel from the bottom of the fuel tank (where water, sediment, diesel bug and other contaminants can settle), FuelActive’s solution draws fuel from just below the surface of the fuel tank.
This unique and patented fuel pick-up system ensures that only clean fuel enters the fuel lines, eliminating the effects of fuel contamination and reducing fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions by 5%.
We trialled FuelActive across three separate Copart locations to reflect a variety of different routes, including cross-country and inner-city.

“We’ve already made significant investment into the latest telematics and camera technology across our transport fleet, providing unique data and insight into driving styles and fuel consumption, and we’re actively exploring the option of hydrogen fuelled vehicles going forwards.
“The initial findings from the trial are very positive and we look forward to sharing the results after further analysis.”
