An ever-growing global team
Copart UK is part of a rapidly growing global business. In the UK alone, we have 18 UK locations and over 1,100 employees.
Copart Inc. was founded in the US in 1982, with the launch of one single salvage yard in California, before expanding into the UK in 2007.
We’ve come a long way since then! Copart Inc is now a global leader in online vehicle remarketing, operating in 11 countries and over 200 locations throughout the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain, Spain, Germany, Finland, Republic of Ireland and Brazil.
Our UK business continues to grow, and in 2020 we embarked on an ambitious growth programme, to identify, acquire and develop additional land for our business.
We currently own over 537 acres, and to put that into context – that’s bigger than the entire country of Monaco and gives us the capacity to process around 60,000 vehicles at any one time.
Our operational capabilities are unrivalled within our industry and we’re not planning on slowing down! This year, we have already announced expansions at our Operation Centres in Bristol, Wisbech and York, as well as plans for a new 31-acre site in East Kilbride which will double our operational capabilities in Scotland.

We hold six ISO certifications for Business Continuity Management (ISO 22301), Environmental Management (ISO 14001), Information Security (ISO 27001), Occupational Health & Safety Management (ISO 45001), Quality Management System (ISO 9001), and Risk Management (ISO 31000).
This is very unique for a company in the automotive industry. It not only highlights the market leading standards at which we operate, but also demonstrates our ability to proactively, and consistently, identify and control the management of health, safety, and environmental risks.

We genuinely recognise our teammates’ efforts and achievements and celebrate those who have gone above and beyond with quarterly recognition awards, the Copart Superstar Awards.
In fact, in January this year, we recognised a record-breaking 32 teammates as Copart Superstars! This was the highest number we had ever presented in a quarter and is testament to the amazing spirit and resilience that our people continue to demonstrate throughout the challenges of the pandemic.
Personal Development
We always encourage personal development and we are committed to supporting our people in growing their skills, knowledge, and experience.
We’ve made a significant investment into apprenticeship schemes, so we can offer our teammates the opportunity to learn new skills in areas they are interested in, gain industry recognised qualifications, and potentially progress within our business.
To date, we’ve supported the personal development of 85 teammates with a wide range of Copart Apprenticeship schemes, including Customer Service, Team Leading, LGV Driving, and Vehicle Damage Assessment.
We support and encourage gender balance within the automotive industry and we’re proud to have a well-balanced workforce across all areas of our business. We have created a culture that welcomes equality and diversity, and career progression opportunities are available for all teammates, regardless of their gender.
We recently supported a female teammate, who was previously in an admin role, to pursue a career in engineering. This has resulted in our very first female Vehicle Image Engineer, and we hope this encourages other women within Copart and the wider industry to pursue a similar path.
Career Opportunities
You might be surprised at the wide range of roles we have, across many different areas of our business.
Across our UK-wide Operation Centres we have opportunities for HGV & Loader Drivers, Yard Operatives, and Customer Service Representatives.
A variety of specialist functions operate from our Head Office in Bedford, including Sales & Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, IT, Member Services, and Legal.
And, earlier this year, we opened our brand-new Customer Excellence Centre in Bedford, following the rapid expansion of our customer service functions. The Centre houses Copart’s Claims Settlement, Customer Support Centre, Vehicle Engineering and Operational Audit teams, supporting the essential services we provide to the insurance sector.
