We’re heading towards a greener future as we grow and were recently presented with a trophy from the Carbon Literacy Project to mark our gold level CLO status, after officially achieving this milestone in December.
Becoming a Carbon Literate Organisation is an integral strand of our ongoing Plan-Net-Zero sustainability commitment and we’re making steady progress towards achieving Platinum Level CLO status.
Just like the Copart ethos, Always Moving Forward, we must all work together across the industry and play our part in creating a greener future.
The automotive sector has a huge responsibility to champion climate action and carbon reduction, so here at Copart we’re playing our part wherever we can.
Starting at ground level, we’re doing this by developing buildings and infrastructure that are green, efficient, and sustainable long term, including LED lighting, paperless offices, green energy, and water recycling.
And with Copart owning the largest dedicated salvage and vehicle transportation fleet in our sector, we know that how we operate it really matters. We have reduced our miles travelled and fuel consumption significantly by operating a Euro VI-compliant fleet, utilising our dynamic routing capabilities, and introducing unique fuel efficiency systems.
As Copart continues to grow at a rapid pace, we are doing everything we can to protect the environment around us. When building new Operation Centres and refurbish existing ones, we are designing our buildings to be ‘fit for the future’ and offer strong green credentials. That means ensuring that they are inclusive, energy efficient, and constructed in an environmentally friendly way.
And despite our growth, we have retained a strong focus on maintaining biodiversity and currently have over 155 acres of green space across our nationwide locations.
There is, of course, more work to be done. Keeping us on track to achieve our net-zero goals is our alignment with the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) and just one of the sustainability initiatives we are currently working towards is ISO 14064 (Managing Greenhouse Gas Emissions.)
There is still a long journey ahead, but we’re moving forward, and we’ll keep you updated as we achieve our sustainability milestones.
