While some people are still jetting off on late summer breaks, we’re already gearing up for winter here at Copart!
It’s important to us that our customers always have confidence in us to provide them with the very best service and experience.
So, we’ve continued to invest into our operational capabilities to ensure that we always remain ahead of the curve when it comes to preparing for those volume increases and weather-related incidents that inevitably occur during the winter months.
In addition to significant investment into new DAF & Volvo multi-car transporters and JCB loaders as part of our ongoing fleet replacement and expansion programme, our recent acquisition of Hills Salvage & Recycling – The Green Parts Specialists has boosted our UK-wide logistics fleet to circa. 500.
And we’ve made a flurry of exciting growth and expansion announcements over the past few weeks, with more to come!
Proven power and capability
First and foremost, we have a well-established, fast, and effective emergency response strategy in place, including experienced Surge Management teams who provide support in times of weather-related crisis situations such as severe flooding.
Our teams are always on standby to respond and have a wide range of market-leading mobile technology solutions with the capability to assess, image and process vehicles on-site.
This means we can respond immediately, minimising disruption to local communities and rapidly resolving policy holder claims for our insurance customers.
The advantage of being a truly global business is that we have the luxury of being able to call upon other Copart countries to assist in a crisis. For example, UK Surge Management teammates travelled to Germany last year to offer our expertise and support with the processing of around 6,000 flood-damaged vehicles.
Unrivalled storage capacity
As volumes steadily increase throughout the winter months, having the necessary latent storage capacity is essential. Luckily, we have a vast network of experienced Copart Operation Centres located strategically across the UK.
And with various expansions underway at existing Operation Centres, as well as new locations planned in Corby, and East Kilbride, our coverage is soon set to increase to over 600 acres – that’s more than double the acreage of our main competitors combined!
We’re very proud to say that this level of storage capacity is completely unrivalled. In fact, did you know that our sites in Bristol and Sandwich alone currently provide over 100 acres?
We also have the huge advantage of owning 23 connected Operation Centres and Offices across the UK & Ireland and the people who work there are all Copart employees. That means we can manage seasonal peaks in demand through centrally controlled decisions and we can easily divert vehicles to other Copart Operation Centres.
The strategic positioning of our current and future locations across the country means we are never too far away from our customers when they need us most.
So even if you’re still enjoying the sunshine right now – and ice and snow are the furthest things from your mind – you can be confident that here at Copart we’re stronger than ever, we’re always here to help, and we’re ready for whatever potential challenges lie ahead this winter!
