Copart’s Tree Planting Partnership Supports Sustainability Goals

by | Apr 19, 2022

Supporting our Copart Cares💙 commitment to sustainability, since starting our Driver Academy programme 9 trees have been planted in Madagascar in Copart’s name, thanks to our partnership with HGVC, the first and only UK driver training provider to offer carbon neutral training.

We launched our Driver Academy programme in January 2022, with the aim of delivering 100 new fully trained drivers in the first year as part of our wider expansion plans to continually enhance our vehicle collection and delivery capabilities across the UK.

As a global leader in online vehicle remarketing and recycling, we take our environmental responsibilities seriously and we are fully committed to becoming a more sustainable business by achieving net-zero emissions.

We’re passionate about always acting in the right and most responsible way in everything we do, so a key criteria for our Driving Academy training partner was that of sustainability.

Supporting both our Copart Cares💙 commitment to environmental protection and sustainability, and directly aligning with Copart’s Plan-Net-Zero Programme, HGVC pledges to plant a tree for every training course undertaken. This offsets any carbon created by the vehicles used during the programme.

HGVC pledges to plant a tree for every Copart Driver Academy training course undertaken.

HGVC works alongside THG More:Trees, who will plant a tree on our behalf for every training course ordered, which – over its lifetime – will absorb roughly three times the amount of carbon created during the training course.

Holly Rose, Learning & Development Manager at Copart, said:

“We take our commitment to protecting the natural environment very seriously and we will always take every opportunity we can to prevent pollution and minimise environmental impact in everything we do.

Our partnership with HGVC is just one way in which Copart is driving positive change to achieve a greener future as part of our overall Plan-Net-Zero sustainability commitment.”

Jane Pocock, Managing Director of Copart UK & Ireland, added:

“Every small change we make at Copart can have a big impact, so I’m delighted that through our partnership with HGVC we can offset any carbon created by our Driver Academy Programme with this tree planting project to help restore the balance.

This is just one of many green initiatives we have underway to support our ongoing sustainability goals at Copart, including the introduction of more outside green spaces at our locations to improve air quality, encourage nature, and reduce our carbon footprint.”

We’re also discussing hydrogen fuel options for our fleet and will soon be rolling out Carbon Literacy training programme to all our teammates to increase awareness around environmental issues both inside and outside of work.”
