Working closely with our nationwide UK Operation Centres and the Group Transport Manager, the Central Dispatch & Logistics Manager will be an integral part of our UK transport operations, leading a growing team of National Planners to deliver route scheduling and specialist services for the movement of vehicles across our operational network.
It’s an exciting time to join us. Due to rapid expansion, we have recently opened our new Customer Excellence Centre at Franklin Court in Bedford, to support our ongoing growth and the changing needs of our customers.
The role will be based at Franklin Court, joining our Claims Settlement, Customer Support Centre, Vehicle Engineering and Operational Audit teams, all of which provide our insurance partners with world class end-to-end outsourced services and drive more returns from their vehicles.
Our National Transport Planners are responsible for liaising with Dispatchers at all of our Operation Centres to plan the most effective routes for our Drivers, in line with the needs of our business.
Using information obtained daily from the Operation Centres regarding availability of transporters, drivers and sub-haulers, the National Transport Planners will calculate the best driver routes for vehicle collection using route planning software and road data, alongside their own operational and local knowledge.
With tech playing such a crucial role, you will need to be an expert in route scheduling and able to provide training to the team to ensure that our software, driver applications and IT capabilities are maximised to their full potential. A working knowledge of Paragon route scheduling software would be desirable.
While utilising our existing route scheduling and telematics software, a key part of this new role will be to explore the latest technology available in this field, with a view to identifying more advanced systems for our business which will improve efficiency and performance.
On a daily basis, you’ll be leading and developing our team of National Transport Planners to deliver and exceed objectives, including accuracy targets. You’ll need to be a strong leader with experience of managing and motivating a team, and you’ll be heavily involved in the project team to create and grow this new Central Dispatch department within our business.
A strong analytical mind is essential, as you’ll be examining route scheduling and costs to provide maximum efficiency and providing solutions to any challenges or missed collections.
You’ll be expected to present your findings and propose improvements on a regular basis, so you’ll need excellent IT skills and the ability to convey information and ideas concisely and accurately both in writing and verbally.
