As Storm Darcy continues to bring snow and plunging temperatures across the country, Copart remains fully operational and ready to respond.
With snow and ice causing flooding incidents and accidents, it’s essential that vehicles are recovered as quickly as possible. The proven capability of our emergency response strategy and market leading technology means we are fully prepared for these extreme weather conditions.
We have an established emergency response strategy in place, that is fast and effective. Using UK emergency service techniques, our Dynamic Incident Management Escalation process (DIMES) includes experienced Catastrophe Response teams and our mobile Copart Response Unit.
Our specialist teams are always on standby to be deployed to affected areas, with a wide range of mobile technology solutions which have the capability to assess, image and process vehicles on-site. This is supported by Copart’s UK-wide transport fleet, which is stronger than ever with over 400 vehicles, and a network of centrally coordinated roamer recovery drivers.
Technology plays a key role for our fleet when responding to winter weather-related incidents. Last year, we invested into an integrated solution for our transporters which combines a telematics platform with connected cameras.
This will really come into play during the winter, as the all-round visibility provided by the cameras enables our transport experts to assess live views of the scene and weather conditions and plan accordingly.
To further reassure our customers, earlier this year we were awarded the ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management Standard. This is a globally recognised standard, designed to help businesses prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from, unexpected and disruptive incidents.
“Copart continues to operate at full strength despite the adverse weather conditions. Our surge management teams are responding to the impact of Storm Darcy, providing immediate assistance where required, to help minimise impact within affected communities.
Our robust emergency response services, coupled with cutting edge mobile technology for receiving and imaging vehicles, enable us to rapidly resolve policy holders claims for Copart’s insurance customers.
And of course, the safety of our employees during these extreme weather conditions remains paramount, so all teammates receive training on how to work and drive safely in the winter, via Copart’s online Learning Management System (LMS).”
