With Christmas events cancelled due to the pandemic, Copart UK has instead made a series of charitable donations to good causes supported by their customers.
Christmas is a time for giving, and with covid-19 having put a stop to our usual Christmas parties and events this year, we have chosen to donate to some of our customers’ good causes.
Demand for support from charities is now higher than ever and it has been reported that almost 700,000 people in the UK are facing poverty due to the covid crisis. Many charities are reporting huge financial losses due to fundraising activities being cancelled and shops being forced to close.
With our usual Christmas events having been cancelled, we are delighted to join forces with many other businesses across the country who have been donating unused funds to charitable causes.
We have worked closely with our customers and partners to identify causes that are close to their hearts and have made donations to Family Action. Cash for Kids, Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity and Prostate Cancer UK.
Family Action provides practical, emotional, and financial support to those who are experiencing poverty, disadvantage, and social isolation across the country. The charity works with over 60,000 families, providing community-based services and financial assistance through education and welfare grants programmes.
Cash for Kids is a grant-giving charity which helps disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. Their mission is to improve the lives of children affected by poverty, illness, or neglect by working with grass-roots organisations to directly support families who often have nowhere else to go.
Rainbow Trust is a charity we have proudly supported for many years as part of the annual ILC ‘Wear it Red’ Day. This charity provides bespoke support for families who have a child with a serious illness. This could include emotional support, respite, helping to organise hospital appointments, explaining illnesses and treatment, looking after siblings, and bereavement support.
We have also donated to Prostate Cancer UK as part of Movember fundraising from one of our partners who was recently diagnosed with cancer. The top priority of this charity is to fund research into finding better treatments and tests that can spot fast-growing cancers early and save thousands of lives.
Jane Pocock, Managing Director of Copart UK, said:
“Copart is unable to have Christmas events this year due to covid restrictions, so we are proud to make donations to a number of charitable organisations instead, many of which support disadvantaged families and young people who are facing further struggles this Christmas due to the pandemic. We worked closely with our customers and partners to identify good causes close to their hearts and we would encourage other businesses to do the same this Christmas.”
