Copart UK’s Wootton Head Office were delighted to support the local community by donating towards the Bedford Foodbank’s ‘Christmas in a Box’ appeal again this year.
Supporting our local communities…
Copart employees filled boxes for single people with donations of food essentials, as well as seasonal treats such as Christmas Puddings and chocolates, which will make a real difference to local people in crisis this year.
The completed boxes were delivered to All Nations Church, who co-ordinate collections for Bedford Foodbank as part of their ‘Christmas in a Box’ appeal.
There are now around 2,000 Food Banks across the UK, and the Bedford branch alone has fed over 7,000 people in the last twelve months.
Last year, the ‘Christmas in a Box’ donations provided by local businesses and schools in Bedford meant that over 850 boxes were distributed to the local community over the Christmas period, reaching over 1,900 people.
Karen Langley, Communications Manager said: “Copart UK has proudly supported the Christmas in a Box Appeal for many years, thanks to the generosity of our Wootton Head Office team-mates. Christmas can be an especially difficult time for people living in extreme financial vulnerability, so we were delighted to donate several boxes of food to this worthy cause and play a part in caring for our community.”
Committed to charitable giving…
We’re very proud to have established a culture that is committed to charitable giving, and as well as supporting local initiatives like the Foodbank, our Operations Centres across the UK also regularly participate in national charitable events throughout the year.
On December 13th, employees across our 18 UK locations took part in the annual Christmas Jumper Day. Team-mates made a £2 donation to wear a Christmas Jumper, and alongside bake sales and raffles, we’re delighted to have raised over £700 for Save the Children.
