Copart’s Fitness Fundraiser for BEN

by | Jun 26, 2019

It’s World Wellbeing Week, providing great opportunities to promote an overall awareness for the various aspects of wellbeing and shining a light on charities and social enterprises operating within this growing sector.

We are a proud advocate of the registered charity, BEN, who provides social, physical, mental and financial health and wellbeing support to those working in the automotive industry. We are proud to have adopted BEN as our ‘company charity’ and hold regular fundraising events across our UK facilities during the year.

For the last three months, Copart colleagues in our Customer Support Centre and Claims Settlement teams at Wootton Head Office have been losing pounds in weight…while raising pounds for BEN!

Over the twelve-week period, eight colleagues made donations to BEN to take part in a Slimming Competition which was set up by Customer Service Representative, Benjamin Peller. Every week the contestants were weighed, motivated to lose more for the following week and given diet and exercise advice by Benjamin, who is a YMCA level 3 qualified personal trainer and level 2 nutritionist.

In total, these colleagues lost just under 30 pounds and raised £50 for BEN!

Benjamin said: “A slimming competition was suggested within the team as a way for a group of colleagues to work together and improve their health and fitness. Not only has it been a great team building exercise which has created a nice healthy atmosphere in the office, it was also a good opportunity to raise some money for charity.”

Karen Langley, Marketing & Internal Communications Executive added: “It’s great to see colleagues coming up with innovative ideas to encourage wellbeing and raise funds for charity at the same time. To mark World Wellbeing Week, we shared this inspiring story across our business along with some useful ideas and tips for staying healthy in the workplace.”
