To mark World Mental Health Day, we’re pleased to announce that our first cohort of Copart Mental Health First Aiders have commenced their training with St John Ambulance.

Teammates from our Wootton Head Office and Customer Excellence Centre in Bedford have been selected as Mental Health First Aiders and are in the process of undertaking training with the St John Ambulance charity.

After completing a 2-day training course, they will go through an assessment process after which they will receive a nationally recognised qualification from awarding organisation FutureQuals.

Supporting our Copart Cares💙 CSR commitment to caring about our teammates, we announced the launch of our new Mental Health First Aider programme in partnership with St John Ambulance back in May 2022.

The programme joined Copart’s wide range of support networks, services, and tools to encourage a culture where our teammates feel comfortable and able to reach out for help when needed.

This includes our Copart Rewards benefits platform (launched earlier this year) which gives our teammates access to free and confidential advice through an external Employee Assistance Programme, and a Wellbeing Hub containing a range of health and wellbeing advice, videos, and resources.

We’re also extremely fortunate to have access to a wide range of free health and wellbeing services through our company charity Ben, which we promote regularly to our teammates and support through various fundraising activities throughout the year.

We’re proud to further strengthen our commitment to providing a healthy and happy working environment by having our first Copart Mental Health First Aiders in place as a vital point of contact for teammates experiencing mental health issues or emotional distress.

There will be further training later in the year to provide Copart Mental Health First Aiders at each of our 19 UK locations.

Leanne Carroll, Human Resources Director at Copart, said:

“I’m delighted to announce that Copart Mental Health First Aider training is now underway, putting us firmly on a pathway towards providing additional support to our teammates alongside our existing health and wellbeing benefits package.

“We’re proud to work in partnership with St John Ambulance, which has over 140 years’ experience in delivering first aid training. Once completed, their comprehensive training will enable us to provide an extremely valuable and extensive support network across our nationwide business.

“I’m also very pleased to say that following final assessments, our Mental Health First Aiders will receive a nationally recognised qualification, further supporting our commitment to the ongoing personal development and training of our teammates.”
