We are delighted to announce that 86 Copart UK teammates have celebrated Long Service milestones this year.
The Copart Long Service Awards is one of our most important forms of employee recognition. We love being able to reward our teammates for their long-term dedication and loyalty to our business and they are a fantastic way for us to demonstrate our Copart Value ‘Celebrate our People’.
Our celebrations, which have always traditionally taken place at Easter, were arranged a little differently this year due to the current covid-19 restrictions.
Despite the additional challenges this posed, thanks to a creative combination of socially distanced presentations at our Operation Centres and virtual presentations for our home workers, we successfully gave out 86 Long Service Awards.
Copart teammates who have completed 5, 10, 15, and 20 years’ continuous service all received a certificate and shopping vouchers, which were presented to them by their Regional Manager or line manager, either at their usual place of work or virtually.
This year we also had some special milestones achieved, with two of our teammates reaching 25 years’ service!
When a teammate achieves 25 years’ service, they and a guest are invited to be regular attendees at our annual off-site Long Service Awards Lunch. During their first lunch, these teammates receive a framed certificate and John Lewis vouchers.
Unfortunately, we have not been able to hold the event again this year due to covid-19 restrictions. But of course, we made sure that these very special awards were presented during socially distanced celebrations which took place at our Operation Centres in Sandtoft and Westbury.
Martin Harris, LGV Driver – Sandtoft
“I enjoy the variation of my job…no two days are the same!”
Martin joined Universal Salvage in November 1995 as a driver, after being recommended to the company by his best friend’s father. After Copart acquired the business he continued to work as a driver, and he still holds this role today. Martin enjoys the variety of his role and how it gives him the opportunity to meet so many people.
Peter Carter, Loader Operator – Westbury
“I love working with my teammates and I feel like part of the furniture at Copart now!”
Peter joined Universal Salvage in October 1995 as a Yard Operative, also covering gate security on auction days. Copart acquired the business in 2007 and since then Peter has covered a variety of different tasks within the business including driving the tractors, call handling, and now operating the loaders.
“Our Long Service Awards play a very important role in motivating and engaging our teammates. Having experienced such a unique and challenging year due to the pandemic, recognising the loyalty and commitment of our teammates is more important than ever.
The collective skills and experience of these long serving teammates is invaluable to our business, and we love having opportunities like this to show our appreciation for their extensive knowledge and talent.”
Jane Pocock, Managing Director of Copart UK & Ireland
