Climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing our world today. Understanding what causes it, the impact it has, and the steps we can take to reduce emissions is becoming increasingly important for both individuals and businesses.
That’s why we’re committed to Carbon Literacy at Copart UK. We’re proud to hold Platinum Carbon Literate Organisation (CLO) status – the highest accreditation awarded by The Carbon Literacy Project.
Carbon Literacy gives our teammates the knowledge and confidence to understand how their everyday decisions can affect their carbon footprint, both at work and at home. It helps them identify practical ways to reduce emissions, improve efficiency, cut waste, and contribute to a more sustainable future.
For us, Carbon Literacy is about more than training – it’s about creating awareness. When people understand the challenges and opportunities linked to climate change, they’re better equipped to make informed decisions that support our Plan-Net-Zero sustainability goals and deliver lasting positive impact.
Building that awareness across our business is a vital part of our sustainability journey. By embedding Carbon Literacy throughout the organisation, we’ve empowered more than 2,000 teammates to play an active role in creating positive change and to consider sustainability in everything they do.
There are clear benefits for businesses too. Demonstrating a commitment to Carbon Literacy can strengthen reputation, build trust, and enhance brand awareness.
For the automotive industry in particular, the need for action has never been greater. Organisations across the sector are facing increasing pressure to reduce carbon emissions and meet evolving environmental regulations. Simply put, businesses must be able to show that they are taking meaningful steps towards net zero.
We believe Carbon Literacy training can help organisations across our industry better understand the impact of their operations, while providing the knowledge and skills needed to implement more sustainable practices and stay ahead of changing regulations.
As we look to the future, we remain committed to maintaining our Platinum status through continued leadership, training, and advocacy. We also encourage businesses across the automotive sector to join The Carbon Literacy Project and become part of the collective effort to build a more sustainable future.
By working together, we can drive meaningful change and make real progress on the journey to net zero.
