All-change for Adrian

by | Jun 1, 2017

Our sponsored darts player Adrian Lewis has certainly had a strong start to 2017. He reached the semi-finals of the Unibet Darts Masters in January; and gave a solid performance throughout the Betway Premier League from February to May, including a sensational nine-dart-finish in his match against Raymond van Barneveld in Liverpool.

Next on the agenda is the World Cup of Darts (WCoD) 2017 in Frankfurt from 1st-4th June, which will be covered by Sky Sports. WCoD is a unique tournament where players do not take part individually but with a team partner, playing for their home country. The tournament has taken place six times since 2010, with four wins for England and two for the Netherlands.

It’s all familiar ground for Lewis, who has been part of the winning England partnership for four of the last five years alongside Phil Taylor.

However, this year it will be all change with a new-look partnership for Lewis. Phil Taylor will be absent from the competition for the first time in its history, and Dave Chisnall in his WCoD debut will be stepping into his shoes to help Lewis defend England’s long-standing title.

Both Lewis and Chisnall expressed their excitement about the pairing on Twitter earlier this month, with Chisnall also commenting that it is “an honour to represent England in the World Cup of Darts…really looking forward to it.”

Chisnall, who is currently World No 5, and has won nine PDC Pro Tour events should prove to be a strong partner for Lewis, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that this new dynamic proves to be a winning combination for England.

Lewis and Chisnall will play their first match on Friday 2nd June against Gibraltar’s Dyson Parody and Dylan Duo.
