It’s Learning at Work Week, and this year’s theme of ‘Many ways to learn’ really resonates with us at Copart. It reflects the variety of training and development routes we offer to ensure our business (and our teammates) are fully equipped for the future.

A recent IMI report highlighted that automotive apprenticeships are now 25% below pre‑pandemic levels, demonstrating the ongoing challenges our industry faces when it comes to attracting new talent.

It’s clear that more needs to be done to future‑proof our sector, especially as new and evolving technologies continue to shape the automotive world. Supporting more young people into skilled careers is a big part of that.

At Copart, we’re committed to helping our teammates grow, build confidence and prepare for the future. That’s why we invest heavily in a wide range of training and development initiatives across the business.

A key area of focus for us is specialist electric and hybrid vehicle training. We’re proud to be an IMI‑approved accreditation centre, which means we can now deliver IMI TechSafe courses across our nationwide Operation Centres.

These include Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications in EV maintenance and repair, helping our teams stay safe, knowledgeable, and ready for the increasing number of electric vehicles on the road

Our Copart Apprenticeships also play a huge role in developing future talent. To date, we’ve supported over 200 apprentices across a wide variety of operational and corporate pathways, giving teammates the chance to gain industry‑recognised qualifications and real opportunities to progress.

Programmes like our Driver Academy and engineering apprenticeships are helping to close skills gaps and strengthen the long‑term capabilities of both Copart and the wider automotive industry.

Alongside technical training, we’ve maintained a strong focus on personal development through coaching and mentoring.

Mentoring is embedded across our business, offering new starters and those looking to take the next step in their career, access to guidance, encouragement and the invaluable experience of long‑serving teammates.

Our Coaching Clinics are another great example of this. These small, practical learning sessions are led by skilled teammates and are designed to help individuals build knowledge in specific areas while supporting their ongoing professional growth.

We also continue to invest in our Leadership Development programme, which plays a vital role in nurturing future leaders and providing clear pathways for progression.

By combining technical training, apprenticeships and supportive development programmes, we’re building a skilled, confident and future‑ready workforce – delivering the best possible service to our customers while creating meaningful opportunities for our teammates to thrive.
