National Mentoring Month is a great opportunity for us to highlight the positive impact that Copart’s training, coaching, and mentoring programmes are having on our teammates, our business, and our sector.
Mentoring is used widely across Copart to support and complement our other training programmes and is an extremely effective way of building skills and knowledge for both the mentor and the mentee.
For both new teammates – and existing teammates seeking career progression – having a mentor provides increased confidence, a wider support network across our business, and access to the invaluable experience of a knowledgeable and long-serving teammate.
We also hold regular Copart Coaching Clinics which provide small scale training opportunities for our teammates on a variety of different topics.
This approach is ideal for teammates who are looking to increase their knowledge of a specific area of our business, and they are run by fellow teammates with extensive experience of that topic who are looking to develop their own skill sets.
It’s a fantastic way for us to continually identify and nurture talent within our business, and the targeted nature of the training provides fast-track learning and development opportunities for teammates who are keen to progress within their careers at Copart.
These programmes have also proved a great success when used in conjunction with our Copart Apprenticeship scheme, where we offer a wide range of both operational and corporate pathways.
To date, we have supported over 200 apprentices to learn new skills, gain industry recognised qualifications, and receive potential progression opportunities within Copart.
Not only is this supporting the ongoing personal development of our teammates, but it is enabling us to create succession planning for both Copart and the wider automotive sector.
We’re filling skills gaps and futureproofing our industry with our Driver Academy programme and engineering apprenticeships, and nurturing future leaders through our Coaching, Team Leader, Supervisor, and Departmental Manager apprenticeships.
