We’re delighted that Jane Pocock, CEO of Copart UK & Ireland, has been recognised in the 2024 Autocar Great Women Top 100, an annual event which celebrates the most influential women in the British car industry today.
Jane was a finalist in the Executive Category which is for women who hold senior leadership roles across significant size businesses and are responsible for their direction and success.
Jane Pocock joined Copart in January 2019, bringing a wealth of experience from an extensive career spanning over 30 years in the automotive industry. Prior to Copart, she was CEO of Vans Direct, a market-leading online commercial vehicle retail and leasing company, where she led significant growth over a ten-year period (2009-2019) before selling to Vertu Motors Plc.
Jane’s earlier career includes 17 years with AA (1989-2007), joining at the age of 18 as part of a management graduate development scheme. She went on to hold various leadership positions across their insurance, membership, and roadside assistance businesses both in the UK and Europe, whilst undertaking further professional studies.
Jane now leads the second most established market in Copart’s global business and is the only female CEO in this NASDAQ-listed company.
She has full responsibility for all areas of the UK business, which currently employs circa 1,700 people across 27 locations. She influences quality of service, and leads development and growth of Copart UK and its related businesses and sub-brands including U-Pull-It, The Green Parts Specialists, and Cash for Cars.
Jane has been, and continues to be, an outstanding role model for women aspiring to senior leadership positions within the automotive industry. She actively encourages gender balance within Copart and has ensured that we have strong female representation across all areas of the business.
There has been a phenomenal rate of growth under her leadership at Copart, providing ever-growing job opportunities and helping to future proof our industry. Upon joining Copart five years ago, Jane set in motion an ambitious ‘land and expand’ strategy which combines a programme of land acquisition with continuous improvement at existing sites.
At over 1,000 acres Copart’s land bank is unrivalled within the industry. Alongside various existing site expansions Jane has been instrumental in acquiring new Operation Centres in Corby, East Kilbride, Gloucester and St Helens, with more in the pipeline.
Under her leadership, the business has achieved a ‘Super Six’ of ISO accreditations, which is incredibly unique for a company within the automotive industry, and she recently led the business forward at pace to achieve a Carbon Literacy Gold Accreditation less than a year after achieving silver.
This highlights her ongoing commitment to tackling climate change and reducing carbon emissions, and her determination for the business to always act responsibly and sustainably.
