2022 is gearing up to be an epic year for Copart-sponsored driver Louis Foster as he continues to shine stateside in his Indy Pro 2000 Championship debut!
Louis is demonstrating all the characteristics that Copart treasure – resilience, determination, and a willingness to lead but always improve – and all this at just 18 years of age!
Following last year’s amazing achievements, which included taking second place in the Euroformula Open Championship and being a finalist for the prestigious Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year, Louis made the move to America to realise his ambition of racing in IndyCar.
The Indy Pro 2000 series is the second on the ladder of progression known as the “Road to Indy”, which leads onto Indy Lights and then IndyCar, which is considered the biggest single seater racing championship series outside of Formula One.
Louis headed into his debut Indy Pro 2000 season earlier this year with the aim of building his confidence and familiarising himself with some very different tracks and circuits than he is used to, with a view to moving up to the Indy Lights Championship in 2023.
Nobody could have predicted the outstanding performance that lay ahead in his rookie year, but his sheer determination to succeed was obvious from the very first rounds.
During the first rounds in St Petersburg, Florida, he claimed 2 podiums despite it being his first time racing on a street circuit and moved straight into 2nd position overall.
After a stunning debut, he continued to enjoy a flurry of podium finishes throughout the next few rounds and celebrated his first ever US win at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
From there, the only way was up and round 8 at Lucas Oil Raceway saw Louis move into the championship lead, taking both gold on the podium and achieving the fastest lap of the race.
What makes this even more amazing is that it was his first time ever on an oval track, which takes some drivers from Europe years to learn!
Having established the championship lead and his confidence on these new circuits going from strength-to-strength, he went on to enjoy his third win of the season in the last round at Road America.
At the end of June, he’ll head into the next rounds at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course with a championship lead of 19 points after 10 of 18 races.
Louis’s Indy Pro 200 debut has been nothing short of spectacular so far. To be the current championship leader in his first year racing in America on unfamiliar and challenging circuits is both phenomenal and inspirational!
We’re super proud to be partnered with Louis who continues to ‘Challenge the Norm’ and ‘Get Results’ – keep it up!
