We’re delighted that Jane Pocock, CEO of Copart UK & Ireland, has been recognised in the 2022 Autocar Great Women in the British Car Industry Top 100.
This annual event celebrates the most influential women in the British car industry today across categories including Marketing, Sales, Vehicle Development, and Manufacturing.
Jane was a finalist in the Executive Category, which is for women who hold senior leadership roles across significant size businesses and are responsible for their direction and success.
Jane joined Copart in January 2019 as UK Managing Director, bringing a wealth of experience from an extensive career spanning over 30 years in the automotive industry. She joined Copart from Vans Direct, where as CEO she led significant growth over a ten-year period before selling to Vertu Motors Plc. Prior to that she spent 17 years in senior leadership roles with the AA in both the UK and internationally.
Jane now leads the second most established market in Copart’s global business and is the only female CEO in this NASDAQ-listed company.
She has full responsibility for Copart UK, which currently employs 1,200 people across 19 locations, influencing quality of service and leading development and growth of the business and its related sub-brands.
Since joining Copart in 2019, Jane’s influence and leadership has been the driving force behind Copart’s continued growth and success in the UK. Contributing factors include her strong drive for efficiency, automation, and transformation, including significant investment in AI technology, growing high performance leadership teams, and introducing many new key roles to the business.
Under Jane’s leadership, the total of ISO standards Copart operates is now six, which is incredibly unique for a company within the automotive industry.
Jeff Liaw, President of Copart Inc, said:
“Jane is a key member of our global leadership team and has been instrumental in Copart’s continued growth and success in the UK. Jane is held in extremely high regard for delivering outstanding results for our customers, championing equality, diversity, and inclusion within the automotive industry, and for her strong focus on achieving our vision of a more sustainable and greener future.”
Jane is a keen campaigner for gender balance within the automotive industry and is a proud member of the 30% Automotive Club. Outside of Copart, she also acts as a mentor to other women in the automotive industry, in both the UK and US.
SMMT CEO Mike Hawes said:
“These awards recognise the exceptional women leading our industry, leaders who will inspire future generations to see automotive as an exciting and rewarding sector. The breadth and depth of talent in this year’s list, in every discipline, from design and engineering, to marketing, sales and board room, shows the progress the sector is making.”
