Supporting Students at Open Road Charity

by | Feb 9, 2022

We’re delighted to see the latest group of students at Open Road West Norfolk wearing their new Copart branded overalls, as part of our ongoing support of this registered charity.

As part of our Copart Cares 💙commitment to caring about communities and good causes, we’ve been a proud supporter of Open Road West Norfolk since 2013.

This fantastic charity provides training to young people with an interest in motor vehicles, helping them to gain recognised qualifications and improve their employment prospects.

There is a well-reported skills gap in the vehicle repair side of the automotive industry, so we know how important it is to invest in young people who have an interest in this area.

Copart loans four vehicles per year to the charity for students to work on and gain practical hands-on mechanical skills. We provide small, damaged repairable cars, which are no more than five years old, enabling the students to train on the types of modern cars they are likely to work on in a real-life workplace scenario.

We recently provided the charity with brand-new overalls for their September intake of students aged 16+, complete with dual Copart and Open Road branding.

This is just a small gesture on our part to provide a further level of support to these young people, who are on track to become engineers of the future and are helping to ensure a long-term sustainable workforce for the automotive industry.

Michael Stewart, Automotive Sales Director at Copart UK, said:

“At Copart, we are proud to play a part in attracting and engaging young people into pursuing a career within the automotive industry by continuing to support the fantastic work of Open Road West Norfolk.

We hope our small gift of new branded overalls will help to promote the strength of our partnership and provide these new students at Open Road with further reassurance that they are joining a supportive industry network that encourages their ongoing training and development.”

Ady Barney, Business Manager at Open Road West Norfolk, added:

“Without the support of Copart, we would struggle to provide modern cars for our young people to use in training. Open Road is a small charity and we appreciate any contribution towards our work. The generosity of Copart loaning us four vehicles a year to train with ensures we have stability to continue our work . We are extremely grateful for these and now our students have stunning overalls to use. To say thank you just isn’t enough!”
