Our winning partnership with Louis Foster continues in 2021 and we are looking forward to seeing this talented young driver go from strength to strength!
2020 was an amazing year for Copart-sponsored driver, Louis Foster, and we’re very proud of what he has achieved despite the challenges of the ongoing pandemic.
Louis certainly demonstrated the Copart Value, Get Results, with a series of winning performances during the 2020 BRDC British Formula 3 season, which he finished as the top rookie. We proudly watched as he claimed three victories alongside a further three podium finishes and four pole positions.
Initially finishing in fourth place in the overall championship standings, a successful appeal over a penalty in the penultimate race of the season has recently resulted in Louis moving up to third place.
2020 was also the year that Louis made his debut in the Euroformula Open series at Spa-Francorchamps, where he was invited to make a cameo appearance.
The Euroformula Open Championship is a junior formula racing series for single seater cars, which is held across Europe. It has formerly been known as the Spanish Formula Three Championship and the European F3 Open Championship.
His first performance at Spa-Francorchamps in October 2020 was nothing short of amazing. Louis enjoyed an outstanding debut in Belgium, qualifying inside the top five twice and taking victory in only his second race in the series.
He returned for the season finale in Barcelona and achieved yet more success in during this second appearance, with a fantastic drive to claim second place in race three and another trip up to the podium.
Louis said: “2020 has been a wild year for all of us, and it’s the same within motorsport. Delays to the season and changing race meeting dates made it difficult to be fully prepared but it was the same for everybody. I put a lot of effort into my preparations and fitness and I’m really pleased it paid off with P3 in the Championship in my debut season and being the top rookie.”
Louis Foster and his team are now considering options for 2021, and although covid travel restrictions have the potential to create some barriers, he is hoping to be able to return to the Euroformula Open in the spring.
A provisional calendar which has recently been published, predicts races to take place from April through to October in Portugal, France, Belgium, Hungary, Italy, Austria, and Spain. Our teammates in Copart Spain are sure to be eagerly watching those rounds of the championships!
Louis’s management are currently finalising contracts and subject to covid restrictions, are hopeful of seeing him hit the tracks across Europe later in the year.
“I’m now looking forward to racing in EuroFormula Open which is a very competitive Championship.” Louis said. “I’ll be racing at circuits in Europe which are new to me, but I’m determined to work harder than ever before and let’s see what I can achieve.”
And, it won’t just be Europe that Louis ventures into this year as he has recently announced exciting plans to continue his education in the United States.
In a demonstration of yet another Copart Value, Challenge the Norm, Louis has been busy applying to US colleges to study business after finishing his A-Levels in the UK in May/June. This potential move could mark a hugely exciting new chapter for the talented young driver. In addition to his further education, there will also be plenty of new possibilities for his future racing career as he explores opportunities to compete in the US.
Copart, of course, has a huge presence in the US. Our parent company has their headquarters based in Dallas, as well as over 170 locations across 47 states and another 8 in Canada. With over 7,000 Copart teammates in the United States, there is sure to be a whole new fan base supporting Louis when he flies the flag for Copart on US racetracks!
Louis said: “I’m planning to move to the USA later in 2021 to go to college. I still care hugely about my education and I want to continue to learn. I’m looking at studying Business in one of the colleges in California. Hopefully this move to the American education system can be paired with a Road to Indy campaign. Thank you to all at Copart for your amazing support on my journey.”
“Louis is a fantastic talent, with a very high level of ambition which is perfectly aligned to our own at Copart. In addition to supporting Louis with his continued growth and success, it’s fantastic to be associated with a sport where engineering, technology, data, and decision making at speed, are all interwoven to manage risk and return.”
