Building Finance Teams for the Future…
We’re delighted to announce that Copart UK were the winner of the Senior Finance Leader of the Year Award at the 2019 Robert Walters Finance Awards.
The Awards, which were created in partnership between ICAEW, RSM, HSBC and specialist recruitment company Robert Walters, promote the outstanding achievements of businesses and individuals within Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, Hertfordshire and Essex and celebrate their contribution to the economy and employment in these regions.
Copart’s European Finance Director, Gavin Renfrew (pictured above), was presented with the award for Senior Finance Leader of the Year – £100-£500m Turnover, which recognises individuals who have provided strategic direction to their company alongside a demonstrable legacy of delivery in financial performance, leadership and management.
We were also shortlisted for the Business Innovation Award and Rising Star of the Year Award, for which Copart’s Head of European FP&A, Jonathan Simons (pictured below), was individually recognised and highly commended for his individual passion, drive and delivery focus.
Gavin and Jonathan were supported on the night by members of both our UK and European Finance teams, as they went up against other major automotive brands including Suzuki and Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport.
We’ve seen rapid and successful growth across Europe, including a nationwide expansion plan in Germany providing a current total of 15 locations across the country and the acquisition of Autovahinkokeskus Oy, the largest motor salvage disposal company in Finland.
In October 2019, the new Copart Finland website was launched and the very first Copart auction took place. It’s a very exciting time for Finland as they begin to establish their European presence and bring the benefits of our patented VB3 auction technology to Buyers in the northern European region.
This was reflected in Gavin’s nomination, which emphasised his commitment to creating and developing a European Finance team with the right skills to support both the continued growth of the business and the personal development and career objectives of employees.
Gavin said: “My focus has been on building finance teams for the future by introducing new roles across Europe, establishing our European Finance Team in the UK and investing in training and development to ensure that the right skills are in place to support the continued growth of our business. I am very proud to personally receive the award for Senior Finance Leader of the Year, which would not have been possible without the support of the Copart Finance Team and all their hard work over the last 12 months.”
