Copart are AQP-Ready for October

As the Code of Practice AQP qualification deadline fast approaches, Copart UK are pleased to announce that all 33 of our Engineers are AQP-Ready!

Following a review of the Code of Practice for the Categorisation of Motor Vehicle Salvage in October 2017, a new qualification requirement was established for all Engineers responsible for determining salvage categories.

The recommendation for Engineers to pass a competency-based assessment run by the Institute of Automotive Engineer Assessors (IAEA), to identify them as an ‘Appropriately Qualified Person’, comes into effect in October 2019.

Here at Copart, we were already well-prepared 15 months prior to the deadline, announcing back in August 2018 that the majority of our Engineers had successfully completed the required training.

And now, with four months to go until the deadline, all 33 of our Engineers are accredited with an AQP qualification status.

Russell England, Engineering Service Manager said: “We have continued to work closely with the IAEA and independent training company PAAS Ltd to ensure that all 33 of our Engineers received the necessary training to achieve this qualification well ahead of the deadline date. Any new Engineers joining our business in the future will immediately receive this training to achieve the required AQP status.”

Simon Sheldon-Wilson, Operations Director added: “As the industry leader in motor salvage, we continue to invest in the necessary training and development of our Engineers and in our development programmes for the Engineers of tomorrow to meet the required standards and demonstrate the high level of service and technical expertise that our customers expect.”
