The William Hill World Darts Championships are off to a great start for our sponsored darts player Adrian Lewis.
Lewis, who was runner-up to Gary Anderson in 2015, powered through to the second round of the championships with a 3-0 victory over Swedish number one Magnus Caris. Adrian was certainly at full throttle in the second leg of the match, taking just ten darts to win in straight sets.
Adrian said: “Everyone is a bit nervous and apprehensive in the first round, but I got the job done and it’s a massive relief.”
Fifth seed Lewis, who was the 2011 and 2012 champion, will next play fellow Englishman Joe Cullen on Friday 23rd December.
So, is he confident with his chances? Adrian said: “My game is coming on really well. I have the best record out of anybody in the last six years in the tournament and there is no reason why I cannot go up there and win it.”
Could he be crowned World Champion for a third time? We’ll be keeping you posted…
